  • What does a typical PT session look like?
Your first session will begin with a functional movement/injury screen to get a better understanding of how your body functions, evaluating any mobility or strength imbalances that may be contributing to your symptoms. Once these issues have been evaluated, we will jump right into your individualized treatment and make sure you feel confident with the activities that will help you start feeling better. Each subsequent session will be tailored to your specific needs. All treatments will be goal oriented and work towards progressing you towards the best recovery possible. You can expect to receive a solid blend of hands on manual therapy (soft tissue mobilization, spinal/joint mobilization, dry needling, cupping, passive stretching, etc.) and functional exercise to fix atypical movement patterns, reduce pain, and prepare you for life's challenges. See the "Process" page for further explanation.

  • When can I contact you with questions?
We are available 12 hours a day (7am- 7pm) via text, call, or email. If we are unable to respond right away it is most likely because we are with another patient. We will respond as soon as we can to answer any of your questions.
  • What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel a scheduled appointment so that we can offer that slot to another client. We will work together to find a day to reschedule your appointment. We do also offer telehealth treatment options. Per the cancellation policy, if an appointment is cancelled <24 hours of the scheduled appointment time, a cancellation fee will be charged.
  • Do I need to bring a referral from my doctor, chiropractor, or dentist?
No, a formal referral is not required to receive our services.
  • How long will my appointment last?
60-75 minutes, dependent on your treatment needs
  • What if I live outside of Knoxville? Will you still come treat me?
Due to the nature of mobile PT, we have the flexibility to travel to you! However, if you are located greater than a 30 minute drive (one way), a travel fee of $10/session will be charged.
  • Do you offer any military discounts?
Yes we do! As a small thank you to those who protect our country, we are able to offer you a 10% discount off all services.
  • Can I use my insurance?
This will depend on your insurance policy. Nomadic Physical Therapy accepts direct payments through credit, cash, check. You can use your HSA/FSA account if you have one, as we are a covered medical service. You will need to pay out-of-pocket to NPT at the time the service is rendered. However, some insurance policies do allow you to submit a super bill for out-of-network reimbursement. These reimbursement rates will vary based on your benefits, deductible, etc. and are not guaranteed. See https://blog.zencare.co/guide-to-out-of-network-benefits/ for a further detailed explanation. Please let us know if you would like to be provided a super bill.
  • Why would I choose cash PT vs Insurance based PT?
Great question. Here is our reasoning: With insurance based PT you are only able to be seen for the body parts listed on your referral. Your insurance based PT will expect you to come into the clinic 2-3 times a week for ~60 minutes each visit (~120 minutes/week). Plus you will have to figure in drive time during your visits. There is also no guarantee that you will have one on one care. The average outpatient insurance based PT is seeing anywhere from 12-20+ patients a day which results in double/triple bookings and less focus on your individual needs. High deductible plans, co insurances, clinic rates, and negotiated rates set by your insurance could lead to you spending roughly $200-300/session, in addition to your copay. Lastly, with insurance based PT there is a possibility that you could be shared between clinicians or seen by a technician and not seeing consistent care from one PT. With cased based PT we are able to treat you for multiple body parts and cater to your exact needs. For most of our clients, a weekly 60 minute session is all that is necessary to help you meet your goals. We will be providing home exercise programming for the time we are not with you and this will be updated weekly after each visit. There is one fixed cost with cashed based PT, as well as package deals. With Nomadic Physical Therapy you will be guaranteed one on one care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy specialized in Orthopedics or Pelvic Floor care. As a bonus, our model of PT brings the care to your home. This means less time driving to the clinic, no need to find/pay a babysitter, and a familiar environment in which you can excel. A cash-based physical therapist is for you if you prefer: - 1 -on- 1 treatment (with the same therapist each visit!) - No waitlist to begin treatment - Transparent Pricing - No Visit Limits - Preventative/Proactive Care to reduce injury risk - 3 treatment location options for your convenience - FSA/HSA plans accepted
  • Can I use my FSA/HSA funds for my physical therapy fees?
Yes, indeed. Just let us know during your consultation that is how you would like to pay.
